R12 Demanta - Integration Part V

Hi Everyone!!

This post I will be covering the configuration portion of R12 - Ebiz to complete the integration of Demantra with R12.

If you want to view the previous posts

R12-Demantra Integration overview
R12-Demantra Integration Part II
R12-Demantra Integration part III
R12-Demantra Integration Part IV

After deploying the b2b.war file in 10.1.3 OC4J(external to R12 instance) - in my case I have done the separate 10.1.3 J2EE instance in windows box, you will be having the URL to access collaboration workbench. ie. http://hostname.domainname:HTTPport/*contextname of b2b.war application deployment*

After applying the integration patch to ebiz environment you will be seeing profile MSD_DEM_HOST_URL in ebiz suite.

SQL> select fnd_profile.value('MSD_DEM_HOST_URL') from dual;

FND_PROFILE.VALUE('MSD_DEM_HOST_URL') --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SQL>

By default value of the profile is null.

You need to update the above profile to Demantra collaboration workbench URL.

New Responsibility added to the environment by the integration patch is "Demand Management System Administrator"

Menu"Demand Management Workbench"
You will be taken to the demantra portal.

1) Add
"Demand Management System Administrator" to the user accessing Demantra applications

2) Select the responsibility "Demand Management System Administrator" menu "Demand Collaboration Workbench"

3) You will be prompted to feed password - this is where you need to integrate with SSO to avoid the request of password. If you want to integrate with SSO you need to have 10.1.2 10g AS infra - again this is separate installation - should not be confused with 10.1.2 OH of R12. Please see the Demantra implementation guide
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11821_01/demantra/acrobat/E05136_04.pdf
for SSO setup. Register both ebiz and demantra as partner application in Single Sign-on.

4) Demantra UI is being accessed from R12

I hope you all have enjoyed this series of posts explaining Demantra Integration with Ebiz R12.

User Synchronization

From implementation Guide -
"When an E-Business Suite user is granted any responsibility containing the Demand
Management Workbench (MSD_DEM_DEMPLANR) function grant, an Oracle
Demantra user of the same username is created in the Oracle Demantra Demand
Management component. Users assigned E-Business Suite Demand Management System Administrator orDemand Analyst responsibilities are automatically assigned mirrored responsibilities in Oracle Demantra. When a user is created in the E-Business Suite and mirrored in Oracle Demantra, the default password in Oracle Demantra is 'Oracle Demantra'. The Web Server must be restarted for a new user to be available in Oracle Demantra."

To Summarize,

Demantra 7.1.1 can be integrated with 11.5.10 CU2
Demantra 7.2 can be integrated with R12

Please leave your comments/questions. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Happy reading!!

Hi Suresh,
Appreciated lot for your sharing and also surprised can find such a valueable posts from the blogs.
Here is my question may or may not link to the Demantra integration: Do you have more ideas how to integrate the Demantra S&OP(7.2.0.1) to ASCP (12.04)? We have a interesting case here that client has no EBS but bought the Demantra S&OP and Oracle ASCP. I knew the integration between S&OP and ASCP is kind of new functions but could you help the steps to their integrations ? (more details like your installation guide of Demantra the better) I have busy around for weeks on documents but limited to get the clear picture on it. Thanks and appreciated any supports.

Hi John,

Greetings.. I am not sure this is what you are saying, Oracle ASCP - Oracle 11i/R12 ASCP??(I had worked with ERP ASCP team. But not sure you meant ERP ASCP or there is a standalone ASCP project which I am not aware of. You have mentioned ASCP version as 12.04. Is it 12.04 or 12.0.4? If its 12.0.4 then, I believe its ERP ASCP. If 12.0.4 ASCP and Demantra 7.2.0.1 then the steps are same (which are mentioned in this blog from DeamntraI - Demantra V posts).

Thanks
Suresh

John,

I have gone through some of the ASCP links http://mhabib.wordpress.com/2007/04/30/what-is-oracle-ascp/
But still not sure there is a separate standalone ASCP product or its same as part of EBiz Suite of products.

Thanks

Hi John,
Can you please eplain in details what your problem is in the integration front (ASCP-Demantra)?What I could imagine from your blog is that, the integration is between ASCP(version 12.0.4 of Oracle) and Demantra S&OP module(version 7.2.0.1). As per your blog, its mentioned that the client has bought only ASCP and Demantra Modules. Can you tell how the core modules are taken care of?I mean,ASCP is one of the modules on Planning side and to bring data into it you need to have some mechanism. How do they bring the inventory data into ASCP without having the base modules of Oracle like Inventory/BOM/WIP etc?

Secondly I would like to thank Suresh for such an intersting Blog on Demantra. As he pointed the integration is quite similar to what he has mentioned in his earlier entries.

The Responsibilities that become available in case of this integration would be
1)Sales and Operations Planning System administrator and
2)Sales and Operations Planner

I hope my entry makes some sense.

Hey Suresh,
I thought it wise to blog on some issues that make sense rather than on issues like films etc.
Thanks again for including my blog so that more functional queries could be brought out for others who may find this blog very helpful(Also to me to understand different scenarios of Implementation :)).

Hi Suresh

Thanks for sharing this document. Is it possible for you to elaborate step 3 or put screen shot required in step 3 for demantra/EBS R12 integration where we don't want to input the loginid/password again while navigating to Demantra from EBS.

3) You will be prompted to feed password - this is where you need to integrate with SSO to avoid the request of password. that is detailed steps on how to Register both ebiz and demantra as partner application in Single Sign-on.

Hi Jasuva,

Basically when you do the integration of EBS with Demantra without SSO, you will be prompted the password again. Unfortunately I do have any instance to put the screen shot. If I get one I will post it for you. If SSO is not in place both applications are different, but EBS calls the Demantra URL when menu is clicked. Its as simple as that.

Hi,
I have successfully integrated Oracle 12i with Demantra 7.2.

From the machine that has demantra installed, I could easily execute the Business Modeler, Memeber Management and Chaining Management. But when I try exeuting the Business Modeler and the rest of the programs, I get the followin error:

Process executaion failed with the following error : 'modeler.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

What do I need to do?

Hi Suresh,

Thank You for this wonderful blog. I could easily integrate R12(12.0.4) and Demantra 7.2. From the Demantra machine I could easily access the Business Modeler, Member Management and Chaining Management Tools. But from another computer, when I execute for these tools, I get the following error:

"Process executaion failed with the following error : 'modeler.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

Note: The machine I am using is not configured to the same domain as the R12 and Demantra.

Can you plz help.

Hi Ven,

The error suggests exe is not in %PATH% variable. You may try after setting the %PATH% correctly in your system.

Hi Suresh,

I am trying to implement OID SSO with Demantra 7.2.0.1. I have followed the steps recommended in metalink to setup SSO with Demantra. When I go to Demantra URL (http://host:port/demantra/portal/loginpage.jsp), I was redirected to SSO login page.

However After I entered the correct login/password, I am being redirected back to Demantra Login page and I am required to enter login and password again.

I am expecting SSO to pass user authentication and log me in directly to Demantra Collaborator Workbench. Do you know what may be wrong in the setup?

For your reference this is the setup that I did:

1. Register EBS with OID/single sign-on server to enable single sign-on for EBS
applications by following the Metalink notes above.

2. Register Demantra applications with OID/single sign-on server.

Run ssoreg on the machine where the SSO Application server is installed.

If SSO is installed on a linux machine:

$ORACLE_HOME/sso/bin/ssoreg.sh
-oracle_home_path (orcl_home_path]
-site_name (machine name eg: ap7001dma.us.oracle.com ]
-config_mod_osso TRUE
-mod_osso_url [Base URL for the application server
eg:http://ap7001dma.us.oracle.com:80 ]
-remote_midtier [optional]
-config_file [config_file_path/config_file_name*]

This creates a config file on the specified path or updates the local osso.conf
if the config_file parameter is not specified.

Remote_midtier is required if the Oracle Application Server for Demantra is on
a different host. If you are using the remote midtier option please specify the
config_file parameter so that the existing osso.conf is not updated. Copy this
config file to the Application Server on which Demantra is deployed. The path
should be [ORACLE_HOME]\Apache\Apache\conf\osso

3. Enable mod_osso (in httpd.conf file).

- Locate the file httpd.conf in the directory [ORACLE_HOME]\Apache\Apache\conf
- Locate the commented statement #include
"[ORACLE_HOME]\Apache\Apache\conf\mod_osso.conf"
- Uncomment by removing the # character

4. Protect the required Demantra URLs in mod_osso.conf file.

- Locate mod_osso.conf in [ORACLE_HOME]\Apache\Apache\conf
- Make the following changes:

Change
OssoConfigFile conf/osso/[sso config file(name given at *)]
OssoIpCheck off
OssoIdleTimeout off

Add the following text after the statement [IfModule mod_osso.c]

[Location /demantra/portal/loginpage.jsp]
require valid-user
AuthType Basic
[/Location]

[Location /demantra/portal/userManagement.jsp]

Hello Suresh,

I saw your Demantra blog applicationsdba blog, have some questions

Following is my environment
- Linux Running 12.0.4 Apps
- 10G

I am trying to install Demantra 7.2 on windows XP. Do i need a separate 10G database & Client on windows machine.? just the client

I did the following on Windows
1. Install oracle 10g Software and Create Database
2. Install OracleAS 10.1.4 Infrastructure / Identity Management Instance
3. Install OracleAS 10.1.3 Application Server Middle Tier Instance
4. Demantra 7.2 Install Patch - 6617634

I am getting an error,
Mismatch Oracle Client 10.2.0.3.0 and Oracle Server 10.1.0.5.0

please help. I may be doing something incorrect.

girish

Suresh Lakshmanan said...

HI Girish,

Just client in the windows machine will do.

I did the following on Windows
1. Install oracle 10g Software and Create Database - database not required. you will be using ebiz db.
2. Install OracleAS 10.1.4 Infrastructure / Identity Management Instance - ok
3. Install OracleAS 10.1.3 Application Server Middle Tier Instance - ok
4. Demantra 7.2 Install Patch - 6617634 -ok

I am getting an error,
Mismatch Oracle Client 10.2.0.3.0 and Oracle Server 10.1.0.5.0 - what is the client version you have installed?. make the client same as of the ebiz db version say 10gr2 db client 10gr2.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Suresh

Anonymous said...

Hi Suresh,

Thanks for your reply.

eBiz DB is on version 10.2.0.3.0. What version of the client i should install 10.2.0.3.0 or release 1.

I have Linux & Windows on separate partitions on single machine, it is configuration ok or should i install on different windows machine.

please advise.

regards
girish

Suresh Lakshmanan said...

Hi Girish,

As per my understanding if you have 10gR2 server you should have 10gR2 client.(first two digits should match 10.2).
you should be able to run both windows services and Linux services at the same time test the configuration etc.

Hi Tony,

Did you get any luck?
How did you resolve the issue. Have seen one article where this is mentioned

"NOTE: THIS IS CRITICAL - Create the folder C:\tmp on the windows machine
if it does not already exist. This folder will contain the install log. If there is a
failure you will need this log to troubleshoot any issues."

Thanks

Tony Van.Cauter from Oracle said...

Well, no,
I tried on another computer, but he was giving TNS connection issues, so I could not really check the initially mentioned issue..

On my laptop (which is where I am doing all of the testruns), he is still erroring out with the same message, all the way in the end. I may be chasing an issue which is only on my computer, and in the end, I am only testing the software, but if I can't get the software installed ... something is wrong.

I'm creating the c:\tmp all right (in a script), but I don't see install.log there, and actually, I'm not sure it is seen anywhere on my computer ...

hi Anonymous,

I think it is tough to troubleshoot with just this error, check whether you are on supported configurations. this post was written long back, hence steps might not be applicable for newer versions. Work with Oracle Support, they will help with providing bug fixes etc.
