R12.1 - Autoconfig

Hi Everyone!!

With the winter getting cold and colder in Colorado, was running autoconfig in 16 mid-tiers one by one in our 11i environment. Oracle apps has no horizontal limit to add the multitudinous mid-tier nodes theoritically or practically. Same case with RAC db nodes. No limits to the number of nodes. I have heard even 40 Node RAC implementations(in Saudi Arabia).

With increased number of nodes, Production downtime gets increased considerably which supposed to be reverse way. Was thinking is there any alternative to reduce the time to run Autoconfig. Earlier I was mentioning reducing time of autoconfig run in the article Autoconfig to Automagic

R12.1 has the interesting feature that you can run autoconfig in parallel in multi node environment. R12.1 Release Content CD contains this information.
https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/docs/EBS_R12.1_RCD_ATG_PreRelease.pdf

Was curious whether this feature is in 11i already. Commented Steven Chan. Steven's Update says "We haven't formally announced support for running AutoConfig in parallel for EBS 11i yet. However, there's something in the works right now." It would be good to have this feature in 11i for the customers who are in 11i still. we will be moving to R12 soon. Our upgrade plan is in the pipeline.

Will see you in the next R12 Article.

Happy Learning!!

Hi Swathi,

Good Luck for your career. I am doing good and you?
Dedicate your time entirely to understand oracle apps initially.
read the PDF's(installation/maintenance/configuration) apart from normal work.

hi Surendran,

did you change the jsp code in APPL_TOP?

How to customize and execute iStore JSPs from Oracle Jdeveloper ? [ID 419887.1]

check your product implementation guide, i guess you would need to set login/logout profiles.
If you can't figure out please raise oracle SR.

Thanks
Suresh

Hi Mayur,

My apologies for the late reply.
Yes, start reading the book and documents listed in the link
http://applicationsdba.blogspot.com/2010/08/novice-apps-dba.html

after that you can start metalink notes.

if you can have some test environment, thats better to have for testing etc.
start practicing in test environment thats available for you.

keep up your sprit, keep reading docs, you will get better shape.

good luck to you and with best wishes,
Suresh
