Hi Everyone!!
Oracle has bought one of the fanciest replication software Golden Gate. Golden Gate is real time heterogeneous replication software.
There are many replication products available in the market like shareplex, Data Mirror(called as Infospere Change Data Capture from IBM). The real beauty of this software is it supports replication between various databases like MS SQL Server, DB2, Sybase, Teradata etc. It supports multi master, bi directional data replications.
Now Oracle has multiple products which are related to replication/data protection.
Oracle Streams
Oracle Golden gate
Oracle Active Data Guard
Oracle Data Integrator
Considerable number of customers using Golden Gate Software and it is too costly(worthy if you need to replicate real time with multiple vendor databases)!!!
While Oracle has similar products when to use what product?
Oracle Active Data Guard:
-- Full protection, Read only copy of primary - only with Oracle Databases
-- Serves as Disaster recovery purposes
-- Entire database replication (synchronous, Asynchronous)
Oracle Golden Gate
-- Heterogeneous database replication
-- Subset of data replication
-- Zero downtime upgrades
Oracle Steams
-- Existing replication customers are supported
-- No new feature additions
-- Oracle steams/Oracle Golden gate to merge to have new era replication software.
Oracle Data Integrator
-- High performance bulk data movement
-- Load Data warehouses, Integrate heterogeneous data

nice help and interesting. Could you please help for me to get a interview call from USA based company.
Thanks for your support
Thanks & Regards,
Manish Kamboj
Hi Manish,
you need to find the sponsor company for H1 filing. That is the primary task.
in this economy folks are reluctant to file for h1 as USCIS rejection rates are high and they need work order for alien to
go for stamping.
interview is same as that you attend anywhere. it is going to be technical stuffs!
Thanks
Hi Suresh,
I saw your article on Oracle Golden Gate. I have a query is Golden Gate supported over Data Guard? Will GG continue to function normally even after failover.
Actually the requirement is to set schema level bi-directional replication between 2 Data Guard configured sites. The replication should continue to happen to and from even after failover happens in any of the site.
Your help is much Appreciated.
Regards,
Smriti
Hi Smriti,
I have not come across this situation. It should be doable - after the failover or switchover it will become a primary db. hence theoritially i would say yes.

Suresh: What is Oracle's directive as far a replication is concerned for Materialized View Logs based replication? Is this something to which oracle will continue enhancements or they will support in next releases?
How can one choose between Oracle Streams and Materialized View based replication?
Thanks
Hi Anonymous,
Please mention your name when you comment to address you.

<> I haven't seen any article in metalink/otn talks on advanced replication direction. I believe, It will be continue to exist.

Hi,
I need an overview of Oracle using Libelle replication software. Are u familiar with this and do u have any info to share? i am looking at using this for over the WAN replication and would like feedback from soneone familiar with the product.
Thanks
Amien
Amien,
I am sorry. I had no change to work with Libelle.
Suresh
The product is acutlly called GoldenGate, not Golden Gate. A common misconception, though.
Thanks for the article.
Hi Suresh,
We are currently using GG to create flat files from the trail files and use ETL to load delta into our ODS on DB2. Is there a way GG can perform source based CDC so we dont have to use ETL for delta detection from GG files?
